The Democratic Platform I’ll Support

By , June 26, 2026

Here is what I want to hear from the candidates seeking my vote this year.

This week, the primary victories of two Democratic Socialist candidates in New York have drawn concern from both Republicans and Democrats. Fox News is livid. Some Democrats worry that if “progressive” candidates win primaries, it’s more likely that “moderate” voters will stay home or vote for the Republican candidate. That’s wrong.

I’ve been a registered Democrat for the past 45 years. But often, I’ve felt much more in common with the Greens and the Democratic Socialists.

Here is my list of issues and topics that I want to hear candidates talk about, to earn votes from my neighbors, my friends, and my family.

The single most important issue is our response to Climate Change, because the survival of our species depends on it. Perhaps AI regulation is even more important, or a close second.

But we cannot really address those issues, yet. Until.

The recent MAGA-imposed changes must be reversed.

We must re-Constitute our nation.

We must restore sanity and competence to our government. We must restore the legitimate scientists, doctors, and lawyers to the positions where they are desparately needed.

We must restore the laws and values rejected in recent years by White Christian Nationalists, who abandoned the lessons of our nation’s founders, our faiths, and our communities.

We must re-awaken.

We must reverse 47’s discriminatory, illegal firings and their modified standards intended to elevate white males and exclude women and people of color.

We must restore our commitments to education.

We must rededicate our commitment to empathy and equity.  We must recognize the many benefits of diversity, inclusion, and accommodation.

We must enforce our laws, and demand justice for our neighbors whose rights have been viciously violated by illegal actions by masked thugs. We must release people from illegal detention, and close the illegal concentration camps.

We must act to insure that every United States citizen is able to vote. Period. That means no citizen should face any costs to prove their citizenship and right to vote.

We must restore the rule of law. We must restore respect and obedience of legal processes.

Recent budgeting by Congress has slashed revenues, eliminated service programs that save lives and benefit and protect all of us. And they allocated absurd amounts to the military industrial complex.

We must change those priorities, restoring services that save lives, and restoring taxes on billionaire oligarchs.

Along with all of this, I want to hear “my” candidates talk about education, community, housing, infrastructure, transportation, and of course Climate Change and AI regulation.

And yes, legislation is needed to modify the U.S. Supreme Court, whose majority yesterday declared that White Supremacy is the law.

The current Supreme Court majority have abandoned facts, the law, morality, and honor.
